Thanks for posting. Unfortunately, your sky is almost completely blown out. This is a nice scene, but I think taking it at a different time of day and including an object of interest would help you out tremendously. Keep shooting!

Hi Danny, I agree with EOBeav. Nice mix of colors but the sky is overexposed and the foreground is underexposed. This exposure would have been hard to even out, without maybe a neutral density filter, or different time of day. Remember the (rule) of thirds. I'm not one for rules, but it could have helped here. It grabbed my attention as I was surfing the DPS site, and this is my first reply so that may say something?? Keep shooting!

This is a classic scene crying out for a graduated ND filter. Placing the horizon at dead centre is rarely optimal.

OOps! Woke up this morning and it hit me before I even got out of bed - I meant to say GRADUATED neutral density filter. Sorry 'bout that!

Well, apart from what everyone else said regarding exposure. I was trying to imagine the sky and foreground correctly exposed and realise there's also a lack of subject matter here.. Something to capture the imagination.

Perhaps if you'd moved closer to that farmhouse, it would have made the scene a little more interesting. Or whatever that dark shape is centre bottom 1/3rd, or a shot along the wall, or maybe Daisy the cow was somewhere handy to pose for you.. Maybe some wild flowers, a large clump of grass.. There's lots of opportunity here, unfortunately the sky, whilst it's not exactly plain, doesn't really speak to me.. Maybe if the dark cloud had been made darker and you'd cropped for the sky.

Anyway, that's my 2p's worth. The idea is sound, the colours are nice, you need to work on the details of composure and exposure..

You might be able to rescue this shot somewhat, by cropping out a fair amount of sky (which will leave you with a very low, moody sky) and cropping some of the right, and then balancing the exposure a little. You've still got detail in the foreground I think, you just need to bring it out, and you can't with so much burn out in the sky.
