Hi all, this is my first post and I'm not really sure if this is the right place to post this.

I starting to learn how to use the Manual Mode but I took this in P Mode, hoping my camera will choose the right settings for me. I wanted to know how am I doing in terms of composition, exposure, etc. or what should I have done to make it even better?

Any constructive or destructive criticism will be helpful. I wanted to create an eerie sense here but is this creepy enough to you?

Thanks a bunch.

The exif data are:

Manual Focusing
Exp 1/160
EV 0
f/9.0
Focal length: 18mm
ISO 300
flash did not fire
White balance: Auto

P.S. What I've done so far were cropped the picture and darken the lower portion with Burn tool.

The tree to me doesn't add much to the shot, and actually takes away from the "eerie" feeling you're going for.

I'd try and re-compose with your camera horizontally and use whatever is the widest focal length for your lens. Try to get more of the gate in the shot.

Also, a think B&W would work better to make this church "eerie".

Best of luck to you! Hope my comments help, I'm not the best when it comes to critique but I try.

I'd be tempted to put the camera on a tripod and take this at dusk.. A lot of your eeriness is lost by this obviously being taken at daytime. The different lighting conditions will add immensely to the overall feel of the picture.

I agree with Swiss Jon about shooting at night. Shadows, not to mention a dramatic and color-filled sky, would help with the eerie feeling.

It's a mausoleum, I took this picture at noontime, it wasn't sunny and the sky wasn't clear.

Thank you for taking time to peek and comment, it's a big help for a beginner like me to learn the art of photography.
