Default Triangles and lines

Hi all,

I took a photo of this building on the weekend in the botanic gardens because I liked the triangles and lines. Not sure if it really belongs in Landscape/Cityscape but there didnt seem to be another more appropriate forum.

IMG_5616

Camera Canon EOS 300D Digital
Exposure 0.004 sec (1/250)
Aperture f/11.0
Focal Length 28 mm
ISO Speed 100
Exposure Bias 0 EV
Flash Auto, Did not fire

Was wondering if it were a bit underexposed on the left side? Also, is it possible to remove that annoying bin and sign along the bottom as I feel these are a bit distracting. My image editing software is appalling and unable to do such things well (I have tried).

Any other general comments would also be much appraciated.

Cheers

This does not look underexposed to me. I checked a histogram of this and there are some underexposed dark areas, but that is the black area behind the windows and doors. Shooting in midday has the harshest light conditions, so you might want to try shooting closer to dusk/dawn.

If you download GIMP, it's free and has the cloning tool you can use to get rid of the garbage can. It's not easy to learn, but it's a lot cheaper than Photoshop!

Krusty's right, you can't get cheaper than free, and Gimp is good value for money ;-) (actually it's a damn good product)

I think you could very easily get rid of those things.. Crop them out by cutting the bottom off the photo at the first horizontal, I think the photo is probably strong enough to cope. But for goodness sakes, crop it vertically so it's central too please

Thanks for the advice, will look at downloading that software.

I have been playing around with crops but unfortunately I was not dead straight in front of the building when I took it. If I crop to make the most distant part of the building look straight, the closer part looks off centre. Will try to go back there again and get a better shot.

Suggest you crop for the closest part, It's the most noticeable. You're only mm out, but with the sharp angle, a mm or two makes a big difference.
