Default Where to?

Hello - I would love some direction on this photo. The impression I was trying to convey is mystery...where does it lead? My question is, does it provoke that thought? Does it have enough direction? Or does it feel too random and without focus?

if I were you I would have tried a multiple exposure with aeb and combining them to light up the shadow that is eating up the road a little bit or if you shot it in RAW you could use topaz adjust , it really does the same job if you play with it a little more . other than that the photo is very nice althought I suspect it's not recent

I think you've already realised, but I'm afraid that for me it feels a bit random and without focus.. The prohisblem is that the track is so overgrown with grass, from the angle you've chosen, it almost disappears.

I think if you want your sense of mystery from this, you need to make the track much more of a focus in you picture. When I looked at the photo initially, I completely missed the track and searched around for a subject.

Thanks...that is EXACTLY what I was afraid of. Maybe I'll try again tonight from a ladder...? And maybe tramp down the grass a bit more...

I like the idea.

The path winds off to the left, doesn't it? If so, there appears to be another clearing through the trees on the right which competes for/ diminishes the mystique of the path, for me anyway. I would look at closing this gap down more by moving a little more to your right and angling the shot a little more down the track. Maybe get a bit more of the track disappearing into the trees.

I think taking the shot from a ladder is a good idea too. I would also be interested in experimenting with some harsher shadows being thrown by the trees, to generate a bit more drama.

I think tramping down is a good idea.. And I agree with BexJarratt, moving to the right is a good idea. Hadn't thought about a ladder. Interesting idea, always good to take a different angle

Ooooohhh.. Ideas night.

I'm scheduled to shoot a family there tomorrow (it's next door to my place). I think after they leave, I'm going to try and shoot from higher up....once the family of 5 traipses through there, the ruts should be more apparent. What do you think of the lighting? Personally, I LOVE the warm tones of the sunset colors...

Default my Suggestion.........

i have to agree with swissJhon. If you can be near the or inside the tree cluster thus it will give you more of feeling of Mystery as the chiaroscuro come into play with more shadows..... Hope to see more from you

Cheers
