This is a school that I stumbled across wandering around Denver one evening. I'm not sure how I feel about the photo. I don't really care for the entire bottom portion containing the trees and the lights but there really isn't any way that I can remove them. I would like some other opinions on the photo as a whole and what I could have done to make it better. Thanks.
Camera: Canon Rebel XT Exposure: 8s Aperture: f/6.3 ISO400 Not sure if the image is going to show up above so here is a link: http://www.flickr.com/photos/58395142@N08/5355933858/ Last edited by SavageNix; 02-02-2011 at 12:09 AM. |

Nice looking building. Looks like a school with a lot of character. I like the angle you captured the school, rather than a front on shot. The cloud in the sky is well placed to guide your eye from the top left (where our eye naturally enters the frame) to the building.
I agree that the bottom portion is a little distracting. If you have the opportunity to go back, try retaking the photo when there is more ambient light to balance the artificial light sources. Normally this is right at the transition to/from civil twilight from/to nautical twilight -- about an hour before sunrise or after sunset. I also might suggest either a vertical orientation or cropping from the left to remove the house just to the left of your main subject. I would also suggest leaving a little more room at the top of the frame so your eye to get around the top of the foremost tower without leaving the frame. Happy shooting Tim
