A nice gradation of colors from dark blue to the greens..but I think a stronger subject is needed

I mean, what's the main thing you're trying to capture here? the trees? the mountains? the skies?

The tree in the foreground doesn't really hold my interest enough to be the subject. I think it would have been better, if possible, to have pulled back and taken a shot with the entire tree.. Either that or chosen a different tree, or maybe a branch with an animal..

The main thing you could do is shoot this at a different time of the day. The time just before and after sunrise, then again just before and after sunset provide some fantastic light for shots like this. Get a tripod and try it again. You'll be amazed at the difference it provides.

I was not sure what you wanted us to see as the subject of this shot also. You have a cool scene there, but the viewer should not have to guess what the subject is. If the most prominent tree in the foreground is supposed to frame the shot, it should be over to the side. If it is supposed to be the subject of the shot, then it should not be cut off and and the other elements in the shot should support it, not distract from it.
If you went back and moved to the left so the main tree is framing the shot on the left and took the shot at sunset when you have clouds in the sky like EOBeav suggests, then you would have an improved shot that I would like to see. ok, the shot was taken about 15 minutes after sunrise, a tripod was used. i was on an elevated platform, so i couldn't get the whole tree in the subject, which would've been good. i suppose i was using the tree to frame the hills, but then again, they were very far away and blown out a bit. thanks for the comments. i might try again soon.
