I like the possibilities. Pull back a bit to give us a bit more of the ocean and horizon stretching off to the right will give a feel of distance and remoteness. Tuck the building a little closer to the left edge and use a panoramic format to extend our vision. Maybe a touch mor definition on the ocean might be worth trying as well. For this shot its not the objects you want to photograph but the concept of a sentinal on the shores of a vast ocean sort of thing and the irony is that the protector of us all is a cruddy little lookout covered in graffiti. Go back and have a play around with it. Thre's a shot worth spending some time here. I'd love to see some more attempts.

Those are great ideas and really help me visualize the theme. After going through my other photos I realized that it isn't an ocean, but the clouds and off in the distance is the mountaintop of an island. I'd love to go back and take a panorama next year.

That's much better.. When you go back, try to a little closer to the building and use a shorter focal length so it takes up more of the frame without losing anything to the right. Nice photo.

I think the shot with cropping is much better. I have a question for you if I may .... I am wondering why you did not shoot this in color? Seeing the graffiti makes me think that it might be interesting to see the colors ... or perhaps this is only what I'd like to think.

In any event, I think the shot is pretty cool. and caught my interest.

Yeah, I definitely am liking the new crop!

I have the color RAW, but the graffiti is not colored, save the word on the right which is in bright pink. Certainly unfortunate! When I am home I will post it up.
