Default ghosty waterfall

I have spent a few days in the lakes district this week, and naturally had to get the long exposure waterfall image that I have wanted to try for a long time.

This is one of a few that I took, but i feel its missing something, but I'm not sure what.

Part of is the dead twigs covering up the water. They are a bid distraction.

Default possible crop

If it was me, I would crop the top half of the photo out as there is a lot of distraction with all the dead folliage. The bottom half has much more focus on the soft water. Also, possibly bring up the contrast on the greens just a bit?

I think it would add depth to the image if you recomposed the shot so you have one of those big mossy rocks as the foreground interest.

Thanks for the responses guys.

I'm not a fan of the twigs wither, but unfortunately the tight crop is a result of even more of them on either side, I guess Ill just have to go fro another holiday and try again

I like the overall composition, the way the waterfall is running more or less diagonal through the image. I can't see what your shutter speed was, but it looks about perfect to smooth out the water with just enough texture. At least in the small resolution I can see, the image looks very sharp.

For improvement, I would agree with the other post that removing the brown branches would help. I especially like Krusty's suggestion to move in closer (if possible) so that the moss covered rocks are much larger in the frame. This should help add depth as Krusty mentioned, but also provide a solid base to the image.
