Default Sinking Ship B&W

One of my first attempts of turning digital into B&W. I did BW's back in the days of film, but this game is quite different.

So, I'd like to hear any advice, suggestion and critique, from composition to shades and zones.

Doesn't really grab me much. Maybe zoom out to pick up the environment / situation the boat is in. Other then knowing it is at dock, we don't know anything else about it.

Back to the drawing board on the B&W conversion I think. There is a general lack of contrast here with a noticeable lack of blacks. The processing you've done has also created some prominent halos all around the metal framing. Actually, I notice a pretty thick halo everywhere (look at the bottom left).

There is a lack of DOF in this shot. I would use a smaller aperture. I see the potential for a gritty, B&W shot, but this one does not have that gritty feel. With all of the halos, it has more of an overprocessed HDR feel to me. It's okay to have some black areas in the shot, as it adds to the contrast. You might want a little wider field of view also so the edges of the boat are not cut off and you can get a feel for the context of the boat.

thank you all for the comments.
I was far from happy with the shot, but I couldn't point what's wrong. Your help is amazing. Thanks again.
