Default Infrared OKC National Memorial

Canon Powershot G5
560nm internal IR filter
f/4
1/421 sec.
Red and blue channels are switched

OKC Memorial Chairs

Wasn't sure whether to list this here or in the modified section but thought it was more of a cityscape so went for this one. Taken about an hour before sundown Jan 3rd this was my first outing with this camera.

Was looking for some feedback on exposure, composition and the overall affect.

i liek this shot, you have done well with the infrared elemet my only gripe with is is that im not so keep on the top of the tree being chopped off but i imagine that wasn't out of choice

what i do really like is that you got the reflection in there

i would say the same thing and add if there is a chance to put your camera further back to get the whole tree and reflection in the shot, that would complete the shot. i am new to Digital photography myself so this is just my opinion.

The trees are cropped from the top and this looks a bit weird to me. I'd have perhaps considered the water limits to be like the horizon and kept it off the center; this is, using the rule of thirds: full trees occupying the upper and middle row; water and reflections on the lower row.

Nice reflections anyway!

I appreciate all the feedback. It would have been nice to get the whole of the trees in the shot...Sloseph had it right from the get go, there actually was no cropping from the top...the camera I was using does not go out that wide angle and if I step back any further there is actually a bunch of trash in the water.

Aleix if I understand you right you are suggesting just moving the frame up and not having as much reflection in the shot?

I am thinking that if the sun ever shines here again I will go down and give it another try...maybe center it with the two large trees up front on each side of the frame centering on the shortest tree in the back.

You have used the IR technique well but I'm not sure what the strong, prominent feature in this shot is.

There is nowhere for the eye to the rest - I'm constantly searching around from the water to the trees to the things under the trees and back again.
