Hi, I'm a newby and haven't posted much, just studied and tried to learn so don't take my comments as correct.
I love the subject (wish I could find similar myself) and I particularly like the one with the tyre hanging. It gives a very unusual subject in the foreground but doesn't take away from the old house. The only thing I would say is that yes all three pictures seem a bit too bright and I find myself squinting. Maybe somone with more experience will correct me but I think you might see more detail if you us a slightly faster shutter ? Other than that they're very nice :-)

Nice subject here - I'm surprised you didn't get a rule reminder (not that I really care).
I really enjoy the middle one - it seems a wee bit over exposed, but at the same time you are sucessfully drawing the eye into the picture, in my opinion, because there is a shift in light/tones. |

Thank you both for your comments! I'm going to be heading back to the houses tomorrow hopefully and will reshoot a little. After looking through them again I noticed the one with the tire swing was REALLY over-exposed (huge white outs in the sky and on the ground!) so that one I'll definitely be reshooting. Again thanks for your critiques!
(Oh and Sistereinstein I was waiting for a rule reminder too. I'll make sure to post ONE picture next time.) |

Try dropping your iso to 100 as well as the shot is a bit overexposed and gray. Try to get those blacks to be a bit more prominent....will generate better contrast

I love your half-saturated tone. It lends a great feeling.
It is overexposed by a couple of stops I think, ISO 100 and maybe a shutterspeed closer to 1/100s would do it. You would certainly get more significantly detail, adding to the nicely textured subject.

Thanks for the critiques! I'll deffinitly drop my iso down as much as possible (sadly 200 is the lowest the D50 can go).
pjflan7 I did a re-edit taking your comments into acount. Does this look any better? S_Sanyal thanks! I'm kind of a sucker for half suturation and black and white stuff. |
