Default Rainbow over Sydney Harbour

Rainbow over the Harbour

It's been a couple of years since I posted any photos so time I bit the bullet!

As there has been a lot of talk about hyperfocal distance etc recently I decided to concentrate on getting this right on a trip to Sydney.
I got lucky with the rainbow - how did I do otherwise. Did I get the hyperfocal correct?

In relation to the pp - Apart from cropping to 16:9 I didn't really do too much - using Lightroom I bumped up the exposure, and a slight bump to blacks, vibrance and clarity, plus sharpening. Any tips on how to make the most of this would be appreciated as pp is not my area of strength.

Anything you would have done differently?

Exposure 0.003 sec (1/400)
Aperture f/8.0
Focal Length 18 mm
ISO Speed 100
Was using the kit lens with my 400D, I had a circular polariser, but can't remember if it was still on at this stage (unfortunately got smeared with sweaty fingerprint LOL)

I like it!Were you Parasailing...joking.But seriously When Im in Lightroom and have a weak light source to enhance(Rainbow) I'll adjust exposure, fill light and brightness to help and then scroll down to the sliders underneath "Tone Curve" with those you can really get alot of different results and after that Ill usually stop at the hue sat and luminosity sliders for what color light I may want to Slightly enhance.
I'm only mentioning this because you said something about your post processing.
That opera house is so cool and then you happen to have a rainbow...Awesome!

Thanks Chris,

No not parasailing LOL - Pretty high though, apparently the pylon lookout is 87 metres up (about 280 feet) - 200 steps to climb. Totally worth it though, even though I'm not generally good with heights.

I will have to investigate the sliders that you mentioned. I generally work my way down the lightroom panel, but usually stop at the tone curve because that's about where my current skills end. Might be time to expand my knowledge in this area. Thanks for the tips to get me started.
