Default Is this boring?

Ft. Amherst, St. John's harbour, Newfoundland. I realize this is a bit sterile but any technical feedback, exposure, perspective, etc....anything at all would be greatly appreciated. Thanks....Chris

Not boring at all. The frame has a lot of interesting elements, but it comes across like a stage set that is waiting for the main character to enter the scene.

This one's tough. You have interesting elements but somehow they don't work together. It's the composition that is the problem.

I have folders full of that kind of images puzzling me, so I'll just share random thoughts that were my possible answers for the problem.

All those nice elements are there, but nothing ties them together. There are no lines (though you tried to introduce one with the road) that leads the eye from one to the next.

Also, there is no main subject of the photo. If you had a person nicely placed on the road, the image would work much better.

Try (if it's possible to revisit the place) to take differently composed shots. Take your time and effort to shoot different angles. Climb that hillside on the left, move up and down the road.... Be a bit obsessive about the thirds and leading lines.

The bottom 50% of the frame has nothing of interest, IMO. An asphalt path and steel fence look pretty mundane compared to the buildings on the cliffs that seem too far away to get a good look at.

I think a simple crop eliminating much of the foreground would help the composition...as noted above, none of that is particularly interesting. I do think you've taken good advantage of leading lines with the road leading to the water which led my eye to that little red lighthouse (I believe it's one, albeit small) Try cropping off about 25% of the bottom, or so, and see how that works for you. I also think you can bring up your shadow detail a little with the Shadow/Highlight tool (if you have it)

Cropped at the bottom...black and white....don't think either of these edits adds much. Think I will try reshooting.........lots of possibilities in the area. Thanks for all of your feedback. This forum is the best thing I'v enever paid for....you moderators are GREAT!

Shoot this either just at sunrise or just at sundown, and you'll get much better quality of light. As it is, the bright sunlight and shadows here don't mix very well at all.
