Smile A building in Singapore

IMG_1888

I am a neophyte in photography. I am not even familiar with the words being used here. I just click away. This shot I took when I was in Singapore using a wide angle lens in a Canon EOS 500D, f/8, 1/200 exposure time and ISO 100 speed. Harsh criticisms are welcome

Nice wide angle shot
It looks like it was a bit cloudy when you took it. Can you try when the sky is blue, will look good to have different color background. Everything is bit grey right now

Ya, that;s very common composition. But I think that was not perfect time since i feel a bit back light. But you handle it very good. Good picture.

Just a lucky shot, I guess... beginner's luck.
If I may post some more pics for your critique, will be very glad to learn from you, guys. I also want to know how to maximize the use of my lenses. I have a canon zoom lens EF 75-300 mm 1:4-5.6 II (don't understand what those figures are for )

Nice one, though this photo begs for nice blue sky with a massive white cloud or two. Not only for the background color, but because these buildings make nice reflections.

Of course that you should post new threads with new photos. That is the point of the forum
Also, nice way of learning is to critique on other people's photos. You don't have to be expert for that (I'm not and I'm doing it all the time LOL). By doing that you train your brain to think about images, and facing the problems other photographers run into practices you as well.

And about terminology... start reading technical things. There is a plenty of tutorials all over the web, many of them on this site, and it might be bumpy in the beginning, but don't panic about it and you'll be better as you go. More you know and understand, the more this game gets interesting, not to mention that your images get better.

a very late reply to your post, dandelion. thanks for dropping by the thread. yeah, i am trying my best to give critiques, as well, though really i feel so limited by my skills and knowledge. but you are right. it is one way of learning the art, (with much apprehension about my POV being smashed into smithereens.) i feel so inadequate with all the fantastic shots being shared here
