Default Winter on the North Fork

Hi everybody. I've been critiquing a lot lately, so it's only fair that I upload one of mine occasionally to get some critique from you. I just want your general thoughts about composition, post production, and anything else you think that could be improved on this shot. Let me know what you like, too. Thanks in advance for your helpful comments, suggestions and questions.

I like the shot. For some reason though the background as I wander up the image is too messy for me, I would almost rather it have been a blanketed snow covered hill, rather than the mostly snow covered foliage, but one composes with what's available . The water movement, the snow covered rocks, the curve of the water and exposure I like!

Cheers,

Neon

It seems over exposed to me. I know this happens in order to get the smooth look to the water but maybe you could try correcting in post processing, because right now the snow is just blinding and takes away from a beautiful picture.

i love the way the water and the snow covered rocks look....makes me want to go kayaking...i think i would crop the riverside shrubbery along the top and focus on the water....good job....i'm sure it was fun to hike out there and get that shot....

Superb subject and mood. like the way the stream is shot at the curve...

Composition wise- you could eliminate the trees and the balustrade to make its serene mood stronger the background elements contradict a bit. But great picture..

I'm with NeonSD. The background is a little too cluttered for my liking, but I LOVE the snow two snow covered rocks in the foreground. Those go along way towards making this a strong image. Nice shot!

Dan, thanks so much for the feedback. If I print this, I'm going to crop it from the top, or use the landscape oriented shot that I also have. I follow you on Flickr and Facebook, and I love your landscape and outdoor action photos.
