Smile lakeside before sunrise

This is a shot of lakeside before sunrise, with a point and shoot Kodak M531.
I want to know upto what extent this li'll friend of mine will be usefull for photography.
I have no other cam, but i use it with same feel of DSLR.
And what can be better in this image.


Iso 140 (Camera select)
Aperture f/3.1 (Camera select)
Shutter Speed 8 sec.

It's a nice scene, and you caught it at the right time of day. Do you have a specific question about the shot? I'd rather see the top and bottom cropped as the buildings/ground/trees get lost in the rest of it.

Now pls tell me,what it the missing thing for which i need a dslr?

I think you did a good job with your Kodak. The biggest part of it is to think through your shots then pick the right light and angle to make your visual statement. And, it looks like you are well on your way in those departments.

There is a lot of digital noise in your shot, the colors look a little odd to me and it lacks the crystal clear clarity a decent dSLR/lens combo can provide. However, it is strictly up to you whether or not to step up to the next level. Enjoy your camera and always keep your eyes open for a good photographic opportunity. Above all, have FUN!
