Default drizzly neighborhood

This is my first post, which I mention because I am not sure I'll post correctly and follow all the rules, not because I fear critique. I am very ready for critique. Thank you!2010 11 16 032
I was practicing using white balance and I even remembered to think of rule of thirds. I don't take landscapes very often; usually I'm trying to photograph my children, so it's a nice change photographing something still.

1/8 sec f/29 spot metering
cloudy white balance
Camera Canon EOS REBEL T1i
Exposure 0.125 sec (1/8)
Aperture f/29.0
Focal Length 30 mm
ISO Speed 800
Exposure Bias 0 EV
Flash Off, Did not fire

Went into your flickr stream and noticed that you had included your camera settings with each photo. It would help if you also included those settings in your post.

Also, to get more constructive feedback, you should have something specific in mind when posting for a critique. If you can't think about something specific, then you can always default to asking about composition or exposure or you could even say what it is that your trying to achieve when taking the photo.

That last point brings me to my critique.

1. There is no clear subject. If it is the house, it might be a better to shoot from a different view point. Maybe from the front of the house.
2. The right of the photo should probably be cut out. That bit of the house adds nothing to the photo and is more of a distraction.

Thank you for the feedback. As I wrote, I was practicing using white balance. (I'm in a photography class right now.) I was also photographing how the trees have dropped their leaves so suddenly, there are circles below them. I thought about the edge of that house too, and if I scrapbooked the photo I would crop it out.

I have read the guidelines through a few times, but I will check again before posting another picture.
