Default hello there!

well hello there...
i'm new to photography,
new to my own camera,
new to this site.

but i do know one thing,i like to snap landscape,

my interested started off when a good friend of mine took some nice shots on the dinner i cooked for my friends.

and i never looked back...

attached is pictures i took with my canon powershot G9,

by the way,i';m currently in the maldives.

have a look and please share or comment as i'm looking to further improve and hopefully to be able to upgrade to a dslr

First of all, you live in a beautiful place. I would be taking pictures all the time if I lived there. :-)

Sun shots are difficult to pull off if you're a beginner, and I don't know what kind of manual settings those Powershots have. Sunrise and sunset are a great time of of the day to take pictures. If I were you, I would find some scenes you like, and take them at those times. Try to keep the sun directly out of the picture, for now. There are some great tutorials here on DPS, particularly for landscape photographers. Good luck; I look forward to seeing more of your shots.

my settings was at this;-

iso-400
shutter speed- 1/250
2x zoom

thats all i think.....
i have alot actually taken from the past few weeks.....
thanks for the comment....and yes..i do look forward to improving my techniques.....as i highly respect the works of a close friend....and i do want to be like him.....

i al;ways upload my latest shot on it...every week on my day off.....its how i gauge my progress.....

well..if you would be kind to pass me your email; i';ll add you in and you can monitor it too.....
