I went planning to shoot the crowd. Most of the festival was small white tents lining both sides of the street. Some 50 shots later, I only had one that I was pleased with, but even then I converted it to b/w.
I liked it due to the older buildings, which was enhanced the b/w effect, the water tower and street car. It took my eye all over. I just which I could have towered over the lady's back in the foreground. ![]() While I'm REALLY interested in your views, I'd also be interested in how YOU tackle a large event. I was not intending to do 'candids'. As it all took place on one LONG street, I couldn't get high enough to give a decent sense of scale. Thanks! Canon 30D EF-S 17-85 @85 f/11 1/400 ISO 400

I think you did a pretty good job capturing the crowd and the sense of activity. But, I would have never known what was going on without your explanation.

Rather than trying to capture it all, how about capturing details? When you try to get it all in to one shot like this, I find my eyes going all around the place trying to focus on one thing, but never really getting there.

I think I would like some grain and texture in the picture. The scenery is really neat. It would get it and older feel.
