Default Heceta Head Lighthouse

I need input on this one. I feel that something is lacking, but I'm not sure what.

First of all, what a gorgeous location! Whether you live near there or had the opportunity to visit, looks like you have a real gem of a location. Ideally, this would look best being shot early in the morning or late afternoon when the light is softer. It looks like you might have shot this midday. With that said, if you have a photo editing program that will allow you to lower the exposure on over exposed areas, I think it could help compensate for some of the harsh midday light. I would also consider cropping a bit off the top so that the lighthouse is a bit more in the upper right third of the frame. Hopefully this will help boost an already beautiful shot!

Nothing like the Oregon Coast, is there? :-) On shots like this, timing and time of day is everything. I've seen thousands of tourist shots like this taken at midday, with bright sunlight and harsh shadows. Try doing this shot some evening with the setting sun gently illuminating the face of the cliffs and lighthouse. You'll need a tripod, but your shot will stand apart from all of those touristy shots.
