I took this photo while on a walk in town. I turned it into B&W and then split toned it so that the highlights would be brown.
I know that the lamp to the light could probably be removed in post processing. What do you think of the overall composition? Should the exposure be increased? ![]() EXIF data Camera Nikon D80 Exposure 0.001 sec (1/800) Aperture f/3.5 Focal Length 18 mm ISO Speed 100 Exposure Bias -2/3 EV I like taking photos of churches so I will for sure be able to take your comments onboard for all future shootings ![]() Thanks!

First of all, this is a nice subject. I think structures like this lend themselves to a monochromed (or duotoned) look.
That said, I think the building is too dark. However, if you increased your exposure for this shot, you'd risk blowing out the sky behind it. It looks as though you might have taken this with the front part in the shade. Shade and sunlight tend to not play nicely together on camera sensors. I don't know if it's possible, but it would be good to return to this place when the sun is low on the horizon and illuminating the front of the structure.

Thank you for your reply!
I also like these kind of structures in monochrome or dual tones ![]() Well you actually got it spot on. The light is coming from the back of the church, this was shot in the morning, the from it facing the west. I will try shooting this one time during later afternoon when the sun will be coming from the front. I will try to have the church be lighter, maybe I will be able to get more contrasting features from it too. Thanks again!
