Default Late Afternoon in the Park

Taken last weekend in a park near we live, while trying to get familiar with my new 11-16mm lens. I can likely retake the photo. Sun was coming in hard from the left.

2 main questions:

1) do the people (parts of people, actually) and chair add or detract; and

2) is there too much gradient in the sky?

Also curious about the crop and any other thoughts or suggestions you may want to share. Please don't be gentle.

Thanks.

I like this shot. I think you have just the right amount of foreground and composition is good. I think the people are just right, they give it a sense of scale.

The only thing that looks odd to me is the trees on either side look like they're being pulled. Other than that fantastic shot, love the green of the grass.

Thank you. Glad to hear your opinion about the people.

Thanks. I'll go back and look at the trees to see whether the "pull" is distortion or reality. I'll play around with fixing the pull, too. Appreciate the comments.

Like the others said, the people give it a great sense of scale.

There is something funny about the gradient as you said, it looks stronger on the whole right of the photo than on the left. Maybe that side needs to be exposed a little more, or a slight negative gradient added to the right to even the photo out?

Great shot though, hope you can have a play in photoshop to get it perfect!

cee122 - Thanks very much. I had a play with the original and tried to do what you suggested. The edited version is posted below. Better, I think. But, did I get it right?

I think the gradient is better but it's still a little heavy top right. Did you use a polarizer? Perhaps consider (if you are using Photoshop) creating a duplicate layer then apply a layer blend to the top layer of multiply. That will make the overall image darker. Then with the eraser tool on say about 30% erase some of the top layer away (to taste). This will add some drama to the shot. For me it just needs that light & shade. I like the way the trees look as if they stretch a bit. It's quirky .
