Good to know about 16 bit versus 8 bit - thanks.
Camera was handheld and not a fast lens, hence the high ISO.
What's the Sunny 16 Rule????

No lens is fast at f/18.
You probably could've opened up the aperture by 2 stops and used ISO 200 and gained in image quality.

Sunny 16 is basically a handy tool, when you are uncertain about camera settings in bright, sunny conditions. Set your aperture at f/16 and make the shutter speed the inverse of the ISO. For ISO 100 that would be 1/100 and you would round up to suit your camera’s choices, i.e. 1/125.

With handheld shots you should be good down to 1/60 and 1/30 if you are careful and steady yourself against something. That would allow for a pretty low ISO setting.

Thank you - I learned a lot. The duplicate layer with Soft Light really works well .... oh and here's my edited version ...
