Default B&W Arches National Park

This was shot in Arches National Park close to Moab, UT. This is as you are driving up and getting close to the camp ground in the park. This was taken on Jan 23 of this year while on a road trip out west. I initially left it as a color photo, but I have more recently found a passion for B&W and personally found a lot of my older stuff was more suited for B&W. Also, after having a workshop with Kurt Markus, I have even more respect and love for B&W landscapes. I'd love to get some more feedback on this photo

That is a superb photo, Erik!

Great focal point with the tree, really leads the eye to the arch in the background.

Composition-wise, great (although it's a shame there's that low bush in the right third, it would've been nice to have a lone tree).

I think the B&W needs a little work though. It has a minor case of greyitis

I'd like to see the tree darker so it really punches out of the shot, as well as perhaps the branches in the sand in the foreground, and a slightly darker sky so that the arch stands out against it.

I'll give it a tweak and see how it works.

I like it. Overall, I think it's really well balanced, but I'd like to see that bush in the lower left gone as well, I think it just detracts from the shot. Maybe even move a little closer to the tree in order to really accentuate it as the subject.

I'd be curious to see this shot in color.
