Default composition for a Roman theatre

I was in Lyon at The Roman Theater in Fourviere, and took two photos that included lone tourists. Although I like the idea, neither feels like it works as well as it should. But I don't know if the problem is with the composition or if maybe I needed to include more in the image to create a better sense of place. Ideas?

Default More contrast

My two observations are as follows:

The slab at the photo's lower right corner is distracting to me. It pulls my eye away from the woman on the steps.

Also, I think a little PP with your vibrance/saturation and levels would make the woman pop and really bring out the texture of those brick steps.

I think a tighter crop would help this one quite a bit. The other problem that unfortunately you won't be able to do much about is the fact that you took it right in the middle of the day so there's no shading separating each step, which would have added depth.

I agree with ladylysis that a bit of vibrancy could be added in PP, bring out the red in the bricks a bit.
