Default Fall Picture, SailBoat on Lake

Please let me know your comments or suggestions for this fall sailboat pic. I've done some post processing to enhance the colors, perhaps too much?

I like the colors of the trees in the background. The lake could be a little darker for my taste. Also I´d would have been nice to see the tip of the sailboot...but that´s just me. Other than that, nice simple composition I think.

It seems like the focus on the boat is a bit soft, and I agree that I'd have preferred to have the tip of the mast in the shot, too. As far as composition goes, I'd be interested to compare this with a version that has more space at the bow vs. the stern -- you get to imagine where the boat is going, as opposed to seeing where it's been.

I might back the color off a bit, but it's not bad. There's a runner on the shore that looks just a bit redder than I'd have expected.

Nice shot. I like the warm light on the boat.

The color of the trees make a very nice backdrop for the boat, but the very first thing I see is the mast lopped off. That's just one of those things that bother me visually. The Rule of 3rds would have also done a lot for the composition. Instead of dissecting the frame at the midpoint with the horizon, it would have been much more pleasing to drop it into the bottom 3rd of the frame.

I agree with dlambert.

For me the shot needs to include the rest of the mast. It looks incomplete without it. I also think the composition of the shot needs to be flopped. The boat is poised to leave the frame, which is also where your eyes go. If the boat was composed on the left side of the frame, the eye would scan over boat and then those colors you were shooting.

Overall, nice colors. I love the contrast between the water and the trees.
