Ice cream!

This is Ocean Beach in New London CT. One of my favorite spots as a kid... especially because of the vanilla ice cream cones
Anyways all critiques and suggestions are welcome. This is my first photo im posting on here so please be honest in your critique. Also, if anyone has any suggestions on how i can bring out the texture and detail of the building in photoshop or lightroom... please share!

no replies? is it that bad or not worth critiquing? I just would like to know about the composition and if there is a strong enough subject? I'm not new to photography, but im looking into it more seriously. So any help or criticism is appreciated.

The shot is nice and sharp and well exposed, but the composition is a little dull. The line of the pier leads nowhere, and the box-shaped building is too regular. I would have emphasised the building more, got in closer and tried to find some interesting angles and details somewhere I think.

I agree the composition is a little dull... i played around with it in lightroom i guess i have to go back to make some adjustments. Someone also posted an edit of this bringing out the texture and details of the building... and it looked really good! I'll do my own edit in that also to see what i can do. Maybe i should of took the shot showing the other side of the building; taking the shot more at the corner to add some depth so the building wouldn't look so flat. What do you mean the pier line leads nowhere? Do you mean the horizontal line? Anyways... thankyou so much for your time and critique! Its greatly appreciated! It's the only way ill learn

When I say the line leads nowhere, I mean it doesn't draw the eye to anything. It starts out of nowhere and leads nowhere.

I think for this location I would have got in close to the building, shot it from different angles (including low down against that blue sky), and shot some of the details (like the ice cream mosaicy thing and those coloured tables).
