Default Waves on Rocks

If someone can help me make this one better, or what I should have done to make it better, I would appreciate it.

Good concept and the composition is not too bad. You picked the right time of the day and your shutter speed looks pretty good. That sign kind of distracts from the composition. Maybe clone it out? Also, your horizon isn't level...easy to fix in post.

I'm also thinking it might work better if the "pier" was a bit more to the right so more of the ocean and sky were visible on the left. That might add a bit to the interest since that is where the light is coming from.

Can you post your EXIF data? (See critique forum rules).

I like it, nice colour and the slow shutter speed really works here. I agree with above, the pier is too centered, feels too confrontational. Try cropping so its further to left or right, and watch that horizon

It's nice, and very nearly there, imho.

I'd leave the sign. It is a stand-in for a human figure, giving it scale.

About two steps to the left would bring the stones in from the side more, though you'd probably get wet feet :-) This would probably make the composition more dynamic.
You can crop to achieve this, but that makes the picture less involving. You really need to get "in amongst" stuff to get drama... Or try a square crop!

The horizon needs straightening up :-)

Personally, I would darken the blue of the sky a little, nearer the top of the frame to balance the ground in the foreground.

If you have the technology, adjust the "Levels" setting; nudge the contrast up a little; nudge the saturation up a tiny little bit.
You shouldn't really spend more than 5 mins messing with it in an image editor (otherwise it's an illustration, lol).

Hope this helps.
