Default Carcassonne at sundown

I would really appreciate some feedback on this shot I took in August in Carcassonne at sunset. I have done a little post production work on this shot in camera raw (increasing the contrast and saturation and making the image a little darker) and I also removed a few people with the clone stamp tool in photoshop. I would really like to know whether you think that I have done the right thing and what you think of the photo.

Walls at Carcassonne

Taken on my Nikon D90 at 1/50s and f/8 and ISO 500
The focal length was 18mm and I use an 18-105 mm VR NX Nikkor lens (D90 kit lens)

Thanks

TLA

Since no one else has replied, I would say that you have composed the image well, with the path leading the eye to the castle. The only thing that bugs me is that the wall on the left is so dark, almost all of the detail has been lost.

I think that if you were able to take the shot from lower to the ground, it may make the castle seem larger and more imposing.

Thankyou very much krusty79 for you reply. I agree it would have been better had I taken this shot lower down. I quite like the loss of detail on the west wall as I feel it adds to the mystery of the place, but thankyou anyways for your comments, it is really helpful to run this image past someone else.
