Default Boat on the shore

Hi all,
Please let me know what you think about this picture: what could I have done differently, on the post-processing and composition, to make this better?
Thanks for your input!

Nice composition and very colorful. Is it HDR?

Yes I did use HDR on this shot.
I'm just not sure about the composition (maybe some cropping could work?), and maybe too much saturation, I think the color works here but maybe I'm biased.

Cheers!

I think if people have to ask if it is HDR, then it works.

Nice job on the HDR. Very Nice.

I like the colors of the shot.

Two things that seem to bother me about the photo.

1. The right side of the boat seems too close to the edge of the photo, and for some reason leaves me uneasy.

2. The top of the mast is cut off. This isnt as big of a deal, but I think the image would be much better, if this was in the shot.

Maybe a little lower angle, with more room on the right, and you would have a "winner" here.

However, overall, I think you did a great job on the colors.

just my 2c's.

Lopping off the top of the mast also bothered me a little, but the rest of the shot compensates for that little thing that only a few of us probably even notice.

I like this shot, I think the colours are great the the composition is good too. Have you tried to flip it so the boat is on the left? I always feel that foreground objects lead into the picture better from the left - its that reading left to right thing. Of course that could be just me!

It's really a nice picture, I'd be happy to have taken it.

My only issue with the image is that it is a little "confused"...
What I mean by that is that it seems to have two subjects that are fairly evenly balanced and competing for attention...

The boat is a "strong subject", it is colorful and placed at a primary point within the image. But the angle and "leading lines" it creates draws my eye to the sunset which is also a strong subject...colorful and at a primary point.

The result is that my eye never "focuses on the subject"...
It would probably be better if the composition made one or the other subjects the "primary"....
It might be less of an issue if the image were enlarged to where I couldn't actually focus on both areas at the same time.

Maybe do some fill light to bring the boat up a bit..That might throw the balance towards the boat more...

Weeeelll, here's the shot SOC at 0EV:

As you can see I already made *a few* edits. Unfortunately my framing was a little close, so when I corrected a little distortion to have the boat with the form of a boat, I had to keep it just at the edge of the picture (with a 11mm lens, I had the boat at about 1.5m to my right).
I sure wish I has a few friends with me to tug the boat into a better alignment with the sun!

Thank you for all the comments, as they will help me to make a better photo next time.

Also I plead guilty to being distracted so that I didn't have a lot of time to set the tripod up into a puddle and take the pictures, because of the sun setting behind the 3rd tree to the left on the picture:
