Default Lighthouse

Hello,
I took this photo (it's not really a photo, but a stitch of photos) the other day and I like it... But I 'm not sure on the composition.

Settings:
Canon EOS 550D + 18-55 IS Kit lens
Manual mode
f/4.5
1/800
Shot JPEG
Stitched with photoshop, but no other editing made.

Thanks.

I like the beautiful color of the sky but feel you lost most of the focus of the photo when you don't see the lighthouse fully. It is almost out of the photo on the top and is not fully there at the bottom which to me makes it look incomplete. Not sure what others might think but those are my amateur thoughts.

I was thinking the same... I guess I'll have to go there again and retake the shot(s).

Thanks!

Default Shooting lights

I also liked the way the horizon line was nice and straight and the colors are beautiful. You could have bumped the blue up a little to make it really pop against the white, but it is beautiful as it is. I am just learning about PP and am finding that if I am not careful I overdo sometimes. I really like it and wish there were lighthouses here to shoot. Guess I will have to go to the coast to take some pictures. Happy shooting.

I like the general composition a lot. It gives the lighthouse some perspective to the ocean that it overlooks. It does look like the lighthouse is leaning away from the camera; a little perspective distortion, perhaps? What focal length did you shoot it with?

The exposure seems a little overblown on the lighthouse as well. I've found that my Canon XSi tends to overexpose just slightly, so I tend to drop it by 1/2-2/3 of a stop on bright days.

Other than that, good work!

I think it was at 18mm. It really is a little distorted. I also realized this when I stitched the photos together as I got many round borders. Next time I go there I think I'll shoot at something closer to 35mm and maybe take more shots vertically and horizontally.
