Nice pic. I had heard that the lake had dried out. Guess not. Good job.

You are right, for cycle it has overflowed and some cycles almost dry, very concerned when that happens.
Thanks

First take...I'm struck by the massiveness of the clouds, and combined with their relative brightness my eye doesn't want to go anywhere else....Everything below the horizon line is "lost"...
Very difficult as the clouds are what make the image more interesting and I can't see how to "balance them" proportionally with the rest of the image due to their scale...Best I can come up with would be a better "balance" of exposure/brightness should help..

We've had other threads on shooting clouds. It's hard to get a great image with non-sunset/sunrise clouds as the main subject.

I notice your image seems to have a dark grey cast. What white balance setting did you use? I think the XS has a setting for Cloudy or Shade. That might give the colors more "pop."

I used autobalance, but I did some tone adjustments in PS, that's why it looks in that way
thanks

Okay, I didn't know if that was intentional. In that case, I would say your composition is good, using the rule of thirds. The only suggestion I would have would be to use a smaller aperture to increase the DOF. I wonder how that shot would look if you took it closer to sunset?

I think the only thing I might do is to use an exposure or brightness gradient to lighten up the lake area a bit without changing the sky. The sky looks great, but the lake seems a bit underexposed.
