Default Is the composition ok?

I'm trying to get better at photography a day at a time. One of biggest weakness is having an eye for good composition in a photo. Normally I would have just taken a normal shot of the globe but I thought it would be interesting to only get half of it for some reason. Did that work or is it distracting?

I like the globe; I think it does work. I think it might be nice to have a little more of the sky visible. It seems to me that the entire frame is filled up with buildings - which in itself isn't necessarily a bad thing - but it would be nice to have some open space to give the eyes a break.

Nice shot though; I like it.

Cool shot! I like the half globe thing too. The only part that I found distracting was the very bottom with the Jazz and Boss signs and all the orange what-ever-it-is. If you included more of the sky, like 4ndrew suggested, that would take care of the signs too. But now that the photo is taken, I think if you cropped out just that strip on the bottom up to the top of the first window it would improve the shot. I love how the reflections change color as the building goes up. I love your angle too. Nice job!

A lot of composition is developing a feel for what works. That means it is largely intuitive, which is why you see so many books on the subject (and the ones you do find are often not very helpful.) You are trying to balance some strong elements in this composition between the two towers, the globe and the building below. I think you've done a fine job of listening to that inner voice that will tell you when things are "right." (That inner voice is much like a small child at first but with practice it will get better, more sensitive and far more helpful.)
I'd like to see a bit more drama in the lighting and would throw a curve on it if it was my photo.

Interesting shot! I agree with the crop at the bottom. Personally think you have the right amount of Sky and Globe showing. Excellent perspective

I like the shot - Its a good composition.
I would suggest take the shot in some daylight so you can get some details in the globe. The silhouette of the globe is not doing justice to the details.
