Took this shot when the sun was setting behind the cloudy day. Got a little light, but wasn't much. No tripod, so I exposed to the sky to capture the bright orange color. I also used the macro lens for this shot (didn't have the 70-200 with me...). Do you think I better crop off the bottom part of the image (the dark part) or does it actually adds something to the picture. For me, I prefer to leave it as that, because you can barely see the city and it gives the feeling of night time approaching. But I would love to hear from you guys.

First of all, excellent picture, I love the colors and view of the mountains. As for the cropping, this is tricky. I cant decide whether I would like it more with the city there or not. I think in a perfect world I would have just a hair more of the city (its almost hard to see as it is). Part of me keeps thinking its pointless to leave the little bit that is there, but you're right, it does add a sense of depth and that night is taking over. So my answer is (i think lol) leave it there, but if possible, maybe get more of the city next time lol. Hope that helps

i'm torn also. i agree that there is some depth, but i also think that cropping the photo would draw the eye upward into the sunset. I seem to be drawn into the darkness right off. Lovely colors!! it is a nice capture. i am by no way a pro, just what i see.
