Default Out behind the barn

This is a second attempt at capturing silloette during sunset. My ISO was 100, f/10, shutter 1/30, autofocus, white bal set to shade. I have cropped a bit from the sky.

Could this use a bit more cropping? Could I have improved with the composition in anyway? Were my camera settings correct or should something be changed or considered unnecessary? Thanks in advance - please feel free to critque hard

I think it could be a little tighter certainly - not keen on the black at the top, it doesn't add anything to the picture IMO.

If you kept the aspect ration and cropped the top and left side out, the chimney / tower might be more in line with the rule of thirds and be more pleasing.

Also, I presume you are using a tripod? Why not bump the ISO to 200 or 400 and increase your shutter speed a bit - that might give the image a bit more overall sharpness.

Again just my opinion as an amateur!

Hi Tom

Your opion is valued! I agree that a good chunk of the sky needs to go. I am still stumbling around editing (no software yet) Yes, I did use a tripod and I will never ever ever leave home without one now What a huge difference. We get lots of sunsets here so I am going to try your suggestions ie ISO/sutter settings changes. Great way to see the difference. Thanks for the good feedback - appreciated

I love the colors. Why don't you try making it widescreen 16:9. I think that might look nice too.
