Default Boat in Siracusa (Sicily)

Hello,
this is my first post in this forum:

I took it with a Canon EOS 550D with the 18-55 IS Kit lens. It was in the afternoon and I liked the colors...
Exposure: 1/200
Aperture: f/8.0
ISO: 100
No flash

What can I do to improve this shot?

Thanks,

Carles

Hi Carles,

This is a very nice image and I don't think that you really need to do anything to improve it. I like it just the way that it is.

However, some things that you might like to try... You might want to play around with the saturation, contrast and exposure. I think that you could make the colors stronger and more vivid. You could also try a long horizontal crop, sort of panorama style. That would emphasis the long horizon.

But again, this is a nice image and if you are happy with it, I'd leave it just as it is.

Well done.

KG

Nice composition. Just that the colors arent as so.. A Bit washed out IMO.. Try doing some PP, saturation contrast..etc..

I agree... I'll try playing a little bit with the saturation...

Thanks for the comments. I think I'll try to make the colors jump out more.

I'm not too skilled with editing. Maybe I got too strong colors? Do I need some fill light?

Thanks.

Did you keep shooting as the sun dropped behind the horizon? The natural lighting and array of colors usually take place when the sun is just a little bit lower.

I prefer the original over the shopped version. Some subtle post-processing could improve the shot without turning it into something else altogether.
