Default Sunshine Daisies, Butter Mellow.

Hi, thanks for taking the time to click on this thread and even look at my picture. I've had my 500D for 3 days now, and it's my first DSLR. I'm still learning a lot, which is why I'm on this forum. Haha. Flickr--> My Flickr!

Critique would be very much appreciated. What could I improve on? Change?

Sunshine daisies, butter mellow, turn this ugly fat rat yellow.

Hi.
I like very much the dreamy look of this shot. My main criticism is the large white area which is distracting. You could try to tone it down or clone out completely. Possibly remove the blurred yellow daisy above the central flower too. Very good effort and thanks for sharing

I agree with the above, the white spot and other yellowblur are distracting. The flower itself looks beautiful but it gets lost with the large amount of headroom and other distractions

Thank you! I'm going to try and clone both of them out right now.

Hi AndreaTheNinja,

This is a really nice image, I really love the colors, especially the deep rich yellows.

The thing with the white spot... Your eye is naturally drawn to the brightest part of an image and the brightest part is usually the whitest part. I too find it distracting because my eye keeps moving up and away from the subject. Cloning it out might be really difficult to do in a way that will look natural. But... I think that you can crop it out. I love the position of the flower in the frame, and cropping it would change that, but I still think it would be a good image.

The only other thing that I would say is... the sharpest object in the image is the petals on the front of the flower. I would like to see the middle part of the flower be sharp and the front petals soft. However, that is just my preference.

Anyway, this is a nice image. Well done.

KG

Thank you! Cloning hasn't worked out so well, and cropping made the image completely different so I am a bit torn.

I really like the space you left, although I don't agree with others, I don't find the white part THAT distracting. I find it stunning that, the only thing I would've done is focusing on the purple middle part of the flower, it's just preferences after all .
