Default Yellowstone Landscape Valley

Yellowstone NP, July 2010, near NE entrance, about 4pm. Tried more DoF but too windy so grass was blurry. Is this interesting and technically good shot? I would like honest opinions as I am trying to improve skills. Thanks so much!

I'd say you have most of the elements for a great shot, a nice foreground, some interesting mountains and clouds in the sky, but there is no main subject that draws my eye. When you put the horizon in the middle of the image, the viewer usually doesn't know if you want them to look at the top or bottom half. I think you should have moved the horizon up so that the sky is only the top 1/3 of the image. Too bad you didn't have an elk or bison in the foreground, as that would have made a great subject.

Thanks Krusty .. I guess I understand who folks can wait a long time for a really great shot. I agree an elk or bear would of been a great addition.

Appreciate the feedback! .. must be a Simpson's fan ..

Looked like a very beautiful day. I would love to have been there.

I have to agree with the previous comments and say that pic highlight great elements but there is nothing specific that holds your attention.

Just as an excercise you should trying croping the pic. Remove some of the sky, so that the mountain top sits on the top third of the pic. Definately crop out the tree on the left.

I was just here in Yellowstone in July as well, and it's a beautiful place.

Your editing is very good. Nice exposure overall, I echo what others have said, no clear subject to be drawn to.

Try cropping it square in the bottom right corner so you have roughly equal meadow-hills-sky. Might look cool.

Personally, I think either of these two crops works better... alos, I toned it up a bit as the original was a little washed out...
comments anyone?

I vote for the vertical crop version, as it has the tree as a subject that draws the eye.
