What program are you using? Do have adjustment layer capabilities?

You can download GIMP for free if you want to give it a try. You can alter the colors in many ways in GIMP. It supports layers.

Unfortunately I have no knowledge yet in layer adjustments..Im still new in this field though photography is an old passion. For the moment, Im just using the software that go with the purchase of my point & shoot cam. At times, I am often disappointed in taking landscape pics since my equipment couldnt capture what my eyes actually see. Landscapes that are supposed to have been very awesome at times were not given justice in my pictures. I need to learn more...

You're welcome. GIMP is like a free version of Photoshop, so it does a LOT, but has a steep learning curve. I have done some basic image editing, but have to learn how to use layers.
I know it is not easy to capture an awesome landscape scene on a 2D image you see on your computer screen, but you will keep improving if you keep reading critiques of landscape images and keep shooting and experimenting. Here is a thread that I found useful. Scroll down to Ken Caleno's post: Landscapes - the Best ways to Shoot them. What to do and What not to do Here's a good tutorial on setting your color levels (you can do this in GIMP): Levels: Getting the Professional 'Pop' I hope that helps, Greg

How generous of you greg, thanks a lot! I was already able to download GIMP (Photoscape) and currently learning its applications with my photos. I find it very useful and I have a lot more to learn on landscape photography. Its not easy but its the most challenging. yeah, you're right I could learn a lot from this forum. Expect me to let more of my landscape & other photos be critiqued here..Im still confused on the landscape composition though Im already aware of the leading lines, rule of thirds etc. I still need to master how my photos would tell a story.
![]() This is the fixed/edited photo using GIMP, at least it improved a bit..though some features were washed out.

If you get proficient with GIMP, you will master the use of most commercial photo editing software in no time. A lot of power in there, but not as friendly as most packaged programs.
I have a very cheap Kodak point & shoot I keep in my pocket in case I come across something interesting in the course of the day. That little thing has surprised me more than once with the quality of its output. So, hang in there and keep shooting! |

You are right michael, most often, good photos do not depend on the type of camera you are using but on the type of eye you have..It is also best to plan ahead, master the techniques on location inorder to lessen photo editing after.

You know, the first image you posted did not have much blue in it. Most of the color was removed. I didn't think it looked too blueish. Looks like your processing software might have introduced some grain into the clouds. I don't know if you used GIMP on your original image or the one you posted with most of the blue removed, but it should have been able to remove the blue on the original.
If you were able to reshoot that shot, I would like to have seen a version where you are ON the pier and the lines of the pier lead the viewer out to the clouds.
