Default Let the light shine through....

Not sure why my posts keep getting deleted, but here is another try. I saw this old church and loved the light shining through the windows. Please give input!

While not a mod, let me point out a couple things.

Critique Forum Rules

Make sure you're following all the rules listed in the above post. It might explain why your other posts have disappeared, although I think the mods will send a message to you. Maybe check your PMs: http://digital-photography-school.com/forum/private.php

Search engines will open the thread, which counts as a view even though it isn't a user, so having multiple views without any response isn't uncommon. You might also want to give it more than a few hours before getting upset with a lack of responses.

Now that all that's out of the way, your image. It's centered, which is kind of bland. The willows in front of the window are distracting and taking focus away from the key element you were shooting. The blank space below the building could be cropped out, as could the roofline of the building.

The mod's are probably deleteing because there is no exif data in your post. They also like specific questions in this section. I know that can be tough, but that is what they like.

I like your capture. I would probably crop the piers under the building out of the frame and just let the white lap siding be the canvas for the stained glass. That band of dark across the bottom really doesn't add much, so doing away with it in a crop would be a simple fix. Not sure, but it might also create some visual interest to shift the window over to one side or the other. Use that Rule of Thirds thang and just see how that impacts the picture.

Thanks guys! I have a few shots like you've described, but I thought the roof and moss gave it a lot of character, but I see what you mean about the bottom of the house. I appreciate all of your input!

Is this one better? I took several different angles that day...

I think I am supposed to post exif data, but at risk of sounding really dumb, I am not sure where to find that information.

go to your flicker page where this photo is and to the right you will see "photo taken on such and such a date with a Nikon d-90" Click on "d-90" and your exif will come up........you can copy to dps under your photo......you do not need every element of the exif ......just the pertinent data....iso, shutter, aperture, focal length.......etc
