i really like this, i am a big fan of moody B/W shots such as this. i love how the light catches the hay bales, the gras and the tree, also the little bit of detail in th hills in the background is enough to add to the moodiness. i realise that this type of image is not to everyones taste but to me i think you've captured it very well. I do suggest that you remove the end of the hay bale on the lower right of the image, it is kind of distracting

I'm not a fan of the bush being there. Maybe crop it out so more of the attention is on the hay bales.
I'm torn on the sky, whether it would look better without it or not

Thanks for the great comments. I appreciate you both taking the time.
Here are a couple of edits, to get your opinions, if you dont mind....I like these better, but am torn as to which one.... ![]() ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ ~~~~~~~~~~~ ![]() Thanks again for responding, and I am open to any/all critique... Divot |

yes, the removal of the bush and the hay bale end certainly adds to the image, much much better, the choice between the two images to mymind boils down to personal preference. There are elements in both images that appeal to me. the 1st image because the hills adds depth to the image. in the 2nd image, the focus is just purely on the hay bales...

Of the three, I like the last one. You've left just the things that are needed. The lighting in this shot what sells it for me. Thank you for sharing.

Thanks for the responses....
I am just curious.... is anyone getting an "eerier" feeling from the second one... I really like them both (thanks for the suggestions)...when I view the second one, I get a different feeling from the first, and I cant quite identify it... Thanks, |

personally, I like the last edited image since the shot is about the light play on the hay bales. Nothing else is really needed.......on the flip side, if you are attempting to create a sense of place then the 1st edted shot would fit thebill......both very effective images

I agree with windrider, in that cropping would probably work best. The empty right space takes away from the pricture. And maybe, slightly, bringing out the details in the mountain.

Thanks.
Patrick, I appreciate your comments. mwanafunzi, when I remove part of the right side, (move the last image off the right side of my screen to test) I get the feeling the image is off balance. My eye also seems to feel like it comes to an abrupt stop. What are your thoughts or am I misunderstanding you? Thanks again for your comments and ideas, Divot |
