Default life on the rail ways; life passing by

hello everyone,

first off, i hope this thread is in the right place ^^

its a picture i took one afternoon we decided to ride a makeshift trolley. 'would like to ask your opinion on the composition and exposure. In cropping the pic, should i have left more on top (where more of the houses could be seen), or is this ok? Also, my camera strap caused the bit of shadow on the left of the pic but i decided to live it as i thought it adds to the overall feel of the pic; whats your take on this? how about the post processing i did?

pardon the numerous queries ^^
looking forward to your opinions and replies.

thanks in advance!

Hi.

To me, there isn't a point of interest and the spot of colour on the right is actually more of a distraction.

I would like to see more of the left hand side of the image, so maybe try a square or portrait-format crop from the left edge including more of the houses etc you left out.

I'm afraid this seems to be a completely random choice to place color where you did. Same with the camera strap shadow - it just doesn't really make any sense to have a blurry black shadow there. Overall, there are too many different elements to make a cohesive photo. Train tracks, kids walking in different directions, one kid sitting (in color), who knows what in the background, and a rooster in the foreground. Very confusing as to what the viewer is supposed to get from this shot.

I would suggest concentrating on one or two features rather than trying to get everything in one shot.

It feels to me like the image is a bit unbalanced: too many elements cluttered at the left half; too great feeling of emptiness on the other half. The colour seems to me as an attempt to add extra weight to the right half, but IMHO it doesn't fix it.

Greetings,
