Default Waterfalls... using shutter priority mode

Hi,

I got a chance to photograph a small falls. I switched to Shutter priority to control the water flow. Somehow I didnt find the photo fascinate me. So, please advise me on what could have been done to improve?

Unfortunately since the wooden log in front of the falls was very massive, I could not move that.

EXIF INFO:
Camera: Panasonic DMC FZ8
Shutter Priority
No Flash, Auto mode
E Time: 1/6 S
F Number: 8
ISO:100

Falls

Thanks
Gnans

to closely cropped, show more of the waterfall, shooting up will help mitigate the log a bit

I agree...show more of the waterfall. Also, since the log cannot be removed, maybe try a different angle or location to use it to your advantage (lines, shapes, rule of thirds, etc.).

As for the water itself, what were you trying to capture? A silky smooth water flow, a crisp stopped action shot, or something in between?

If you aren't worried about getting wet, then you could go to more of the center of the stream and shoot a vertical from down low. This would get rid of the log, show more of the waterfall and create a more interesting perspective on the waterfall. The only problem is that you would have to be very carefull to keep your camera out of the water. A longer shutter speed to show more movement might also help.

i think the view from the right side of the river will be more of advantage to your point of interest. add some more time for your shutter to produce a silky touch on the cascading water (if you wish)
