Shooting the moon, keep your pants on ;-)

Get yourself a tripod and lower that ISO. Always try to shoot the lowest ISO that you can. Unless you have a high end pro camera higher ISO will produce noise and lower image quality. Also your focal length was 300mm and your shutter speed was 1/250. Take a look at the reciprocal rule. Used to indicate the slowest speed you should shoot when hand holding your camera.

Single-Serving Photo – Focal Length Reciprocal Rule

Also take a look at the rule of thirds. Placing the moon in the middle of the frame is not the best way to display an image creatively.

Nice exposure. Do not be afraid to be creative.

Thanks

Joe

I should mention that I was using a tripod for the shot. Thank you for the critique and suggestions.

I think it's a pretty darn good attempt at a moon shot. Getting good detail of the moon is hard without practice and you've done quite well. The exposure might be just a tad brighter...but not much. Jpitz is right...you want to keep your ISO as low as you can for image quality, but in this shot, I don't see much grain that detracts from the detail.

Nice job.

That's a pretty damn good shot as it is. I'd love to capture one with a plane going across it.
