Default Overdone?

Took my D3 kayaking yesterday and decided I wanted a low angle pic of a small rapids section..I chose a shutter speed slow enough to get some motion blur, but not so slow as to make it "silky", and not so fast as to make it "stagnant". My intention was to give it a sense of motion and "violence". I'm thinking I should have played with shutter speed a bit more. I couldn't go any slower since I didn't have my ND with me, but I could have tried a bit faster... Does the amount of blur achieve the desired effect? (my wife just thinks it's "fuzzy")

Another question: Do you feel it's over processed/over saturated? (I think it might be)

Thanks in advance!

sk66, I think you captured the power, frenzy, and "violence" of the rapids phenomenally! Really magnificent. I do think the sky is a bit over-saturated though. Also, if there is any way to expose the distant hill so that we can see more of its texture that would be nice too. Great shot!

Here's a less processed version with more detail in the background:

BTW, The camera was recording "Jpeg Normal", I failed to set it to RAW after a camera reset.

I like the less-processed version better. The "gritty" effect on the first one fits many subjects, but in the first one it looked too aggressive in my taste. Nice to see a little more detail in the background too. Nice capture!

I agree with laviathan in regards to you having captured what you wanted and I also agree with zetson, in that the second pic is better.

I will have to add to there comments and say that the blue on the mountain and the slight halo are a bit distracting.

Althought the photo itself is interesting ; I think you should go for b/w instead.

I feel somewhat overwhelmed of what is going on in the photo , and feel there are a tad to much information for the brain to grasp (with all the heavy saturation, texture and motion).

Perhaps something like this (I hope it is ok that I edited it) , the motion and frenzy is still there, but the distracting colours are gone
