Default Behind the University

I was waiting for my wife to finish writing a final exam back in April. I had my camera so I was driving around the university looking for something to shoot. I thought this was kind of an interesting photo.

Looking for critique on the composition and on the pictures level of interest.

Don't be afraid to speak your mind.

Thanks

The lighting is interesting and rather spooky. However, I wonder if you have to many elements in shot? I think a slightly different perspective, putting the point where the vertical of the distant building meets the nearer wall on the bottom right of a "rule of thirds" grid, might have been more effective.

I agree with Wolf that a slightly different perspective would really increase the effectiveness. I really like the lighting though, I would definitely go back and take a good 10 or 20 different photos and see if you can really make the perspective/composition and the spooky light work together.

Thanks for the feedback! I think I'll definitely go back again soon.

I also wondered if they're was too much going on. Are either of these crops better?

Would you clone out anything off the wall?

Thanks again

I like the first crop a lot better. I think the garage door is great, just the stuff to the right of it starts making the photo too busy.

The first crop is along the lines of what I was thinking, although I would come in just a bit closer (losing the left-hand end of the wall... let that continue out of the frame). I wouldn't get into cloning things out unless you are using the photos as the source for a particular scene you are trying to create.
