Talking Framed Sunset Reflection

I decided to try something a little bit different, and try and capture the sunset indirectly through a reflective window. I knew what I was trying to do, but since I put it on the computer, theres just something that doesn't seem right about it, and that makes it not work as well as I thought it did. Anyone else have any clue about how I would redo this differently? Any hints or tips appreciated

You are on the right track here. But as you indicated when you looked at the image on the computer it did not look right. You have to start seeing what the camera sees and not the human eye. When you can do this you will be more creative.

The reflection in a window is a good concept. What could you do to improve this?

Look at your window framing, By shooting a looser shot you introduced more of the house in the shot which distracts from the window.

From looking at the window, we can see that it is a window, let the viewer try to figure it out without letting them see the house as well. Create images that make the viewer think a bit. If you give them all of the clues then it looks just like a window with a reflection.

You are starting to develop a good eye, keep it up. Start having that eye see what the camera sees.

Thanks

Joe

i like this concept. a few weeks back i'd tried something similar with a glass facade of a building.

my two-penny worth: crop out the window frame entirely and just show the sunset. let viewers figure out how it's been shot. that'll increase the novelty of the composition.
