I think the softness of the image is great. One thing I spotted that is very cool is a sort of s curve in the clouds separating full cloud cover from the spotty cloud cover towards the top. Nice job.

Very nice exposure, Very nice mood. I love the sky.
Try to do as much cropping in the camera as you can. When you crop in software and not shooting a high end pro camera, you are lowering the overall quality of the image. Try both a portrait and landscape image of this shot. Try a slightly tighter shot and see which one works out the best. Shot lots of images when trying new ideas. Digital is cheap. The more images you shoot the more creative choices you have. Thanks Joe
