Default rainforest

I went for a walk in the rainforest and discovered all the challenges it presents with it's lack of light. I have not edited this shot, i was wondering how i could make it better??? Which settings would be best to use in the dense forest? I admit I probably did not put enough thought into which settings I used. how can you effectively catch the sunlight streaming through without losing the colours of the trees??

My first observation is that the image has a blue cast, making it feel cool. You could probably correct this in camera by selecting a white balance setting for shade. You can also correct it in software like Photoshop or GIMP using a curves adjustment layer. I chose the white-point adjustment tool and clicked on the shoe of the girl in the blue shirt. This made the image much warmer, skin tones more realistic, etc. I can post the result in this thread if you don't mind me reposting one of your images.

Regards,

Talking thankyou

thankyou for your help perry. I would love to see what you could do to it. I am not that great with PP. I might have to look at some tutorials on it. Do you use photoshop or gimp?? I have gimp, but i am thinking of upgrading to photoshop as nearly all advise is given according to photoshop.
