Default Sunset Over Colorado Springs

Hello Everyone!!

This is one of my favorite spots to walk to and has a wonderful view of west Colorado Springs and Pikes Peak. This day a storm was rolling in at sunset. I was really trying to capture the essense of the clouds moving toward the mountains. Of course my personal view of this is much more beautiful that the picture I captured. Please Please help!!! I am still very new at this and still learning, what could I have done differently, your comments are very welcomed!!!

Canon EOS XSi
Shutter 1/60
f/5
ISO 200
20 mm

Thank you Denese

Hi,
What a great positon for a stunning shot!. For me, the foreground is a little dark, and that fantastic sky I think needs a little more contrast. I 'quickly' had a little play, for practice as much as anything. Colour Efex Pro 3 and CS5.

Agree with Dave Turley. The foreground is too dark, and for me the problem is that by improving this you tend to change the clouds, Just a quick take ...hope you don't mind. If you want me to remove this from Flickr later I will.
The picture itself is great, and a great show of the mountains. (I only visited this area a couple of times for soaring and fell in love with the area )

One nifty little trick I learned to bring colors out that is really easy is to duplicate your background layer and then set the mode to soft light. If it makes any area too dark you can easily mask or erase that area
